Job Summary:  As a team member of Leash4Lease, Professional Pet Care, A Pet Sitter and Dog Walker is responsible for providing care and companionship to pets when their owners are away or unable to do so. This role involves ensuring the well-being, safety, and happiness of the animals in your care while adhering to the specific needs and routines set by the pet owners. Pet sitters and dog walkers play a crucial role in the lives of pets and their owners, offering peace of mind and a reliable source of care.

Key Responsibilities:

1. Pet Care:

• Feed and provide fresh water to pets according to the owner's instructions.
• Administer medication, if required, and follow medical care instructions.
• Provide exercise and playtime to promote the physical and mental health of the pets.

1. Dog Walking:

• Take dogs for regular walks, ensuring they get sufficient exercise and fresh air.
• Keep dogs on a leash and ensure their safety during walks.
• Clean-up after dogs during walks, including disposing of waste in a responsible manner.

1. Companionship:

• Provide companionship and social interaction for pets, helping to reduce separation anxiety.
• Engage in interactive and enrichment play and cuddle time with pets.

1. Home Care:

• Ensure the security and cleanliness of the owner's home during pet sitting visits.
• Water plants, bring in mail, and perform other basic household tasks as requested.

1. Communication:

• Maintain open and clear communication with pet owners regarding their pet's well-being and any concerns that may arise.
• Document pet activities, behaviors, and any unusual incidents during your visits.
• Mention “BIG BLUE DOG” in your application.  

1. Safety and Emergency Response:

• Be aware of and responsive to any potential safety hazards for pets in your care.

Qualifications and Requirements:

1. Love and Understanding of Animals:

• A genuine love for and understanding of various animals, particularly dogs and cats.

1. Responsible and Trustworthy:

• Reliability and trustworthiness are essential, as pet owners depend on you to care for their beloved pets.

1. Physical Fitness:

• The ability to walk and handle dogs of different sizes, breeds, and temperaments.

1. Communication Skills:

• Strong communication skills to interact with pet owners and ensure their peace of mind.

1. Time Management:

• Excellent time management skills to adhere to feeding, walking, and medication schedules.

1. Problem-Solving:

• The ability to handle unexpected situations, including pet emergencies, calmly and efficiently.

1. Knowledge of Pet Care:

• Basic knowledge of pet care, including feeding, grooming, and administering medications.

1. Transportation:

• Reliable transportation to reach clients' homes and take dogs for walks.

1. Pet Sitting Experience:

• Prior experience in pet sitting or a similar role is a plus.

Job requirements:

·       Must have a working smartphone.

·       Have a valid driver's license and current auto insurance.

·       Available for flexible and part time work, weekends and holidays included

·       Have reliable transportation.

·       Live within a reasonable distance of the service area

·       Have excellent communication skills, both written and verbal

·       Experience with and compassion for animals

·       Comfortable around all types of animals

·       The ability to work in all kinds of weather.

·       Have excellent time management skills and the ability to work autonomously.

·       Be able to pass a background check.
