Hooman for Hire, LLC is a woman-owned, locally rooted pet-care company serving Anchorage, Eagle River, and surrounding communities. We provide professional pet services including enrichment based dog walks and home visits that enhance pets’ well-being and supports Alaska families.

We’re expanding and seeking compassionate, responsible Pet Recreation Specialists and Overnight Sitters to join our team as Independent Contractors (1099) — with the opportunity to transition to W-2 employment following a successful probationary period.

Position Type

• Independent Contractor (1099) — opportunity to transition to W-2 employment after probationary period
• Schedules Available: 10:00 AM–5:00 PM(day time) ; 6:00 PM-8:00AM (overnight)
• Must have holiday availability
• Anchorage / Eagle River area

Responsibilities

• Provide safe, reliable, enrichment-based pet care through walks, trail adventures, and in-home visits
• Communicate clearly and professionally with clients and the Hooman for Hire admin team
• Use provided scheduling software (Time To Pet) to track services and client updates
• Represent Hooman for Hire’s values of Professionalism, Advocacy, Well-being, and Service in every visit

Requirements (All required prior to contracting)

• Active State of Alaska Business License
• Professional liability insurance
• Reliable vehicle capable of Alaska winter travel (4WD or AWD required)
• Valid driver’s license with current vehicle insurance
• State of Alaska Motor Vehicle Report (MVR) – current within 30 days
• Pass a 50-state background check
• 21 years of age or older (required by insurance)
• Pet CPR & First Aid certification (or willingness to complete before start, provided through onboarding)
• Staff Sitter Certification (provided through onboarding)
• Minimum 1+ year experience in a pet-care, veterinary, facility, or kennel setting (2+ years preferred, family pets do not qualify)
• Ability to work independently and handle year-round outdoor conditions

Preferred Qualifications

• 2+ years professional animal-care or veterinary facility experience
• Familiarity with animal behavior, safety, and enrichment techniques
• Strong written and verbal communication skills
• PSI or IBPSA certifications (access provided)

Compensation

Competitive per-visit and per-hour rates based on experience and service type.

Contractors are paid weekly, including tips earned with Venmo, CashApp, and Apple Pay ability.
