Blair's Ruff House

Why Should You Join the BRH Pack?

We’re so glad you asked!!!

What is Blair’s Ruff House?

Blair’s Ruff House is a mobile pet sitting and dog walking service. We travel to our client’s homes to care for their pets, where they are most comfortable. This gives us the opportunity to care for many different animals such as dogs, cats, farm animals, and even birds and reptiles! As their caretakers, we are able to provide relief for their Pet Parents. They know with our Pack that their babies are getting the highest quality of care.

Why should I work for BRH?

Being a part of the Blair’s Ruff House Pack is extremely rewarding and so much fun. As a Pack Member, your job is to spend time with the animals all day, really and truly! We have the pleasure of watching these pets grow up and getting to learn so much about them. We get to play with them, give them exercise and mental stimulation. We are their own personal visitors and it helps them feel so secure and special while their people are away. We get to be the reason they have a smile on their face. It’s pretty amazing.

Our company offers competitive hourly pay and there are also opportunities to earn gratuity and premium fees for holidays and after hours. Additionally, all of our Pack Members receive a 15% discount on all BRH services.

We are open for business 6am-10pm, 365 days a year. This coupled with our demand for service allows us to offer flexible and rewarding positions.

Yes, that means you choose your own schedule! We ask for availability 4 weeks at a time and schedule you for shifts and services accordingly. Our requirement is that you are available at least 15 hours a week and that you are available at least 2 weekends a month. Some holiday work is also required.

What services do you offer?

We have 2 core services, Drop-In Visits and Dog Walking Services and we can make as many as the client needs per day. .

Drop-In Visits - Our main focus is taking care of the pets basic needs such as potty breaks, feedings and medications. We give them lots of love, make sure they are well and help them feel secure.

Dog Walking Services - The main focus here is obviously the walking! However, even walking visits may consist of some basic care needs.

While not required by Pack Members, we do occasionally offer Overnight Services where the provider would stay in the client's home.

All of our services are inclusive of all of the care needed. They are tailored to fit the needs of the pets we are working with and the preferences of their families who are putting their trust in us.

What is BRH looking for in a new Pack Member?

A pack is a close collective that unites to support one another to accomplish common goals. We function as a Pack at BRH in order to achieve our goals of providing the highest quality care for the pets, as well as peace of mind for their families. Every member of the Pack brings their own unique strengths and experience, while also needed to support and compliment the Pack and its order.

Commitment to our goals and standard of care is paramount. In pet care, there is no 'one size fits all'. Each animal we work with has a unique personality and set of needs and instructions. We work in different environments each day and a Pack Member must be able to adapt and adjust on the go.

We are looking for a candidate who is:

  • Experienced with caring for animals outside of one's home
  • Comfortable and confident around all kinds of pets - from dogs and cats to donkeys and goats - including all dog breeds
  • Attentive and responsive to the variety of service needs that exist across clients
  • At ease in a fast- paced schedule and able to adjust to and support the Pack and those we serve
  • Reliable, as well as an effective communicator
  • A proficient problem solver in response to the unique circumstances of each pet and service situations
  • Available for service weekdays, weekends and some holidays. Our highest volume hours are weekends and holidays.

What are the Overall Responsibilities?

Responsibilities will vary each shift you work with BRH, but a day-to-day would include much of the following:

  • Provide attentive and compassionate care for pets, ensuring their safety and well-being.
  • Administer feeding, exercise, and medication as directed by Pet Parents.
  • Help maintain a safe, clean and comforting environment for the animals.

Will BRH provide training and what is the training schedule?

Yes! Once your start date is set, we will set a training schedule for you with a minimum of 10 hours to be completed within your first 2 weeks. You begin with a company onboarding, including in-depth information on our standard of care, training to use our technological structures and an introduction to our overall procedures.

But, what about the pets?! It’s all about the pets! Your training in the field will include, but is not limited to the following:

  • Meeting Pet Parents and their pets in their homes, accompanied by Pack leadership to start and then solo.
  • Shadowing leadership working with pets on service.

So, yes, you will also meet lots of pets! This will give you hands-on experience with the service you will be providing, while watching our standards and methods in action.

We stay busy. It’s fun, flexible and rewarding. If you can picture yourself in our Pack, give us a RUFF!!
